During the lockdown period of springtime 2020, due to the global pandemic that was COVID-19, the problem of plastic waste slipped down the agenda in the news and in parliament. However, even during these tough times, we at Everyday Plastic HQ believed it still needed addressing.
Launched in April 2020, The Everyday Plastic Survey: Lockdown Edition was a fun and interactive way to learn more about the plastic problem, reduce plastic waste and encourage us to take action. It was super simple: participants collected their plastic waste for a week and recorded what they used. We then analysed the results and generated a personalised plastic footprint for each household. The individual plastic footprint helped each family identify the quick and easy changes that could be made to reduce plastic waste during lockdown and beyond.⠀
This project wasn't designed to make us feel bad about what we consume, especially during these more difficult times. It was about having an appreciation of our impact and identifying the simple, inexpensive ways we can tackle the problem all together.
